(AP) — New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas is facing simple battery and criminal mischief charges following a confrontation with a construction worker, police said Saturday. Thomas, 30, was arrested without incident Friday night, was cooperative with investigators and was released later that night, Kenner police Lt. Mark McCormick said. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Saturday because the team has not publicly discussed Thomas' status for the game. Police say the incident occured in front of a home under construction near Thomas' home. In 2019, Thomas set an NFL record for catches in a season with 149.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr, who entered Sunday listed as questionable with a sprained throwing shoulder, has been activated for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, raising the likelihood that he would start. After Carr was hurt on a sack by Green Bay's Rashan Gary in the second half of last week's game, backup QB Jameis Winston took over and completed 10 of 16 passes for 101 yards in the 18-17 loss to Green Bay. Winston took most of the first-team snaps in practice this week, but Carr held out hope of playing even if he didn't throw much during the week.
